Mish-Mash Life, Yoga & Raw

Phew! What an incredible ride the month of February took me on. I am still trying to catch my breath and can hardly believe I need to flip my calendar page to March.

But I have had you all in my thoughts. There have been many times I have tried to sit down and type out a new blog, however the Universe has had other plans for me this past month.

I have been rebuilding my knowledge of Byron Katie’s Work, trying to align myself more with the teachings of Abraham, laughing spontaneously and further cultivating my inner sense of motherly patience (for Zenchai’s sake and mine).

My daily world almost exclusively revolves around my growing bud, which is incredibly rewarding in its self, but exhausting. I do romantically think of current cultures and past societies that raise/d their children in a tribe. If only we all had that extended network of support.

I also came across this little blurp on Donna Karan from We Like it Raw. Here she shares how juicing (although it looks more like smoothie making to me, but I am not going to get all pedantic on her!), yoga and philanthropy bring her greater well-being. 

Brian and Anna Maria Clement's London Talk

Last night I went into London to hear Brian and Anna Maria Clement from The Hippocrates Institute in Florida talk on raw foods. I heard him speak last time he was in London and loved him from the minute he opened his mouth. He has a very frank way and doesn’t beat around the bush. His dry sense of humour, honesty and directness are incredibly refreshing. And Anna Maria has a sweet and gentle approach.

Although last night’s lecture was informative it wasn’t anything I hadn’t heard already. Having said that, I must admit last time I heard him speak I was much greener in the area of raw foods and was still soaking in a lot of new information. I did pick up on a few gems. Here they are for you.

1)    “Being healthy is not difficult. It is frightening.” How true is that? We are continually opening the doors to unknown realms when we give ourselves permission to live fully and healthily. My question to you then is  - What is stopping you from experiencing the greatest heights of your well-being?
2)    There is a new book coming out that should take care of a lot of the controversy in the raw food arena. It is a compilation book with some of the top raw food leaders. And by leaders I don’t mean the raw food cheerleaders, but the real athletes. The ones with scientific knowledge and background that have worked with thousands of people discovering the facts about eating in this manner. Go to www.rawfoodworks.org for more info.
3)    When we blend our food we loose 80 – 92% of the nutrients. This is caused by the speed of the blades whipping through the food causing massive oxidization. Moral of the story is juicing reigns superior to blending. However, this isn’t to say we can’t still enjoy smoothies or blended concoctions, but rather that having your food intake mainly be from juices and unadulterated raw foods is optimum for our bodies.

In other news I have finally managed to download my pictures from NYC. I don’t have as many raw food photos as I thought, but I will put together a blog in the near future about our experiences. Also coming are blogs about my colonic session and the removal of the mercury from my teeth.

I discovered this really fresh Yogi musician from one of my yoga mentors Alon Sagee. MC Yogi blends hip hop with kirtan (chanting) creating bright, vivid music.

My week in short...

It has been another busy week! Although, I have to admit I haven't been busy with the sorts of things I enjoy. Alas, the beautiful autumnal day has refreshed my senses.

This evening I am going to get all dolled-up for a night out at Saf, which is much needed after a challenging week of volatile two-year old behaviour. I even treated myself to a new top to wear. I am looking forward to coming out of mama mode for a few hours and letting my hair down.

Having said that Zenchai has had some really sweet moments. Last night he gave me the moon as a present. Bless him!

I am also feeling really jazzed about a photo shoot I had last week. I received the images yesterday in the mail. I am really happy with how they turned-out. So I am sure you'll be seeing some more of them splashed around here.

Also, I am pleased to finally offer Paypal on my website for my services. Adding Paypal has felt really pivotal to me.

The YOGA Show - London

It is that time of year again for the annual YOGA Show in London. It is taking place the 31st October - 2nd November at the Olympia in Kensington. I am really excited about this event. There is going to be a spectacular turn-out of renowned yoga teachers holding some very informative classes.

I already have a few classes highlighted in the programme that I want to attend including a class with Doug Keller a master Anusara Yoga teacher.

The YOGA Show is literally all things yoga under one roof. So I am also keen to see what else is new in the yoga world. I always love looking at the beautiful yoga mat bags, organic yoga clothing, and the latest in yoga mat technology. I might even try to pick-up an eco-yoga mat (I know retail therapy at its best!).

Updated Yoga Class Schedule

Well my lovelies I have updated my yoga class schedule to include dates for your diary through February 2009 (click here to view).

Doing yoga now especially as we lead up to the manic holiday season is so vital to the equilibrium of our beautiful bodies. Give yourself the gift this season and join a yoga class (I would love to see you!).
