I just made this tonight. It was so yummy I had to share it.
Zingy Sweet Po-pple Juice
2 apples
1 large sweet potato
2 stalks of celery
2+ inches of ginger
Wash all of your ingredients, chop into juicer friendly sizes, toss down your juicer shoot and be prepared to feel zingy.

Having been here in the US for nearly two weeks, I am feeling the pressures of the holiday crunch – ALREADY!!
I know - incredible. It seems like Christmas comes earlier each year. At the risk of sounding like an old-timer, I remember when Santa’s face and twinkly lights weren’t seen until after Thanksgiving (the end of November). Now you can see all the mistletoe, glitter and tree ornaments just before Halloween (end of October). Phew!
Now is the time to really get your batteries charged up and keep your juices flowing. Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, the next seven weeks leading up to the New Year is always manic. There always seems to be an endless stream of social gatherings, work meetings and general holiday festivities to attend. If you tend to burn the candle from both ends or just want to make peace with yourself before 2009, then I urge you to sign up for a yoga class or private yoga session, try a Thai Yoga Massage and/or drink plenty of fresh green juices.

Here is my daily green juice recipe:
1 large cucumber
2 -3 stalks celery
¼ lime with skin
2-3 apples
bunch of spinach
bunch of rainbow chard
1-2 leaves of kale
handful of sunflower greens (optional)
handful of snow pea shoots (optional)
Juice, pour, slurp, kick up your feet with your fuzzy socks on and slurp some more.
It can be the time of year where everything can be taken to the extreme and we can neglect our own needs. In yoga over-stretching is harmful and I am not just refering to our physical bodies. So as you stretch near your limits this merry season remember to take time to nourish yourself. Try a healthy stretch instead, especially if yoga and green juices are new to you. Love yourself - get to a yoga class and refuel with a delicious life-filled green juice.

Last week I read Tera's blog (The Riva Diva Herself!) where she confessed to having never made a green juice. Being passionate, possibly borderline fanatical
about green juices, I made a little photo diary of Zenchai and me making one without a juicer. I thought if a two-year-old can do it she could too! I also wrote an article for her. Click here to read the full juicy version. Without further adieu here are our photos.
Limey, it's beet!
4 celery stalks
1/2 large cucumber
4 carrots
1 large beet
3 apples
1/4 lime
Wash, chop,and juice! Not to worry, if you don't have a juicer then place all ingredients in blender with just enough water to cover the blades, blend until smooth. Pour into a nut milk bag and squeeze until your heart's delighted (and hands are stained red)!
PS. Zenchai drank at least a pint of this on his own!

I really love to juice. I feel alive, vibrant,
pulsating with energy, and generally blissful. My body is just craving pure
juices, so I have been indulging in 1-2 pints of ecstatic juice each day for
the last week.
Even though I prefer juicing over smoothie-making, I
can fall into laziness with juice-making. My excuse has been that it takes so
much more time to create a juice with all the faffing about cutting and
chopping the produce and then the fiddly cleaning of the juicer itself. As
Zenchai usually enjoys a morning green smoothie, I simplify and make a large
one for us to share. But he has not been in the mood for smoothies of any kind.
So my ‘excuse cooties’ have taken a hike and my ‘juicing fairies’ have taken
the reins.
My juicing has taken on a whole new level of
vibrancy. I used to juice pre-raw days, but it never had the same effect on my
body as is it does now – more on this in a minute. This new level of Being has
even moved me to consider doing a juice feast. I have decided I am going to
really educate myself on the process of juice feasting. The Rainosheks have
devised a beautiful program for this. My intention is to do a week juice feast
in September.
I did pick up a really great tidbit from their website.
If the thought of cleaning up a complex juicer daunts you and is holding you
back from juicing, then a fantastic suggestion is to use your blender in
conjunction with a nut milk bag (a nylon/mesh bag). You just chop the produce into blender-friendly
sizes, place in the blender with ¼ - ½ cup of water, blend until smooth, and
strain through your nut milk bag – minimum fuss, clean-up and very efficient. I
have been doing this the last few mornings with great success. It does really
give your hands a work-out, but on the positive side it is a way to lubricate
your hand joints and prevent arthritis.
The profound radiance I have been feeling in my body
has carried over into my yoga practice.
The juicing has been fuelling my desire to do yoga – literally it is
singing to practice and the yoga I do is incredibly flowing, circulating, freeing
and so much more powerful.
It is incredible that making a simple shift from a morning green smoothie to a green juice has had such a profound effect on my yoga body. I have felt inspired to make really large sweeping movements, to take deep postures and long moments of stillness. I have also seen a shift in how I connect with my headstands. I feel expansive, buzzing and connected to something greater.
