Getting Bugged?

In search of a better quality of life, fulfilling our dreams to see the world and provide ourselves and young children with invaluable experiences, we sold our home and possessions in London to begin our journey of a lifetime. Here we will share our tips, stories, successes and failures, not only for our families and friends, but also to assist those who may have similar adventures in mind. We hope also to inspire those who relish the idea of travelling to newer and unfamiliar pastures but do not know how and those who require some evidence it can be done.

Getting Bugged?

Back home in England (yes, I still regard England as home) I often see people get freaked out at the sight of an insect invader in the home. But out here, in our rural and rustic home in the hills, we’ve learned to live alongside them.

Each day we are visited by ants, massive bumble bees, moths, dragonflies, grasshoppers, beetles, spiders, butterflies, mosquitoes and flies (no-see-ums).

The mosquitoes and flies bite, which has caused some frantic itching (see picture above), but we’ve managed to limit the casualty list by investing in a decent bug repellent and heal the wounds by rubbing in potable alcohol or peppermint oil.

However, with all the other bugs we just learn to live side by side. After all, they were here first!
