I DON'T often research or plan family days. That somehow falls by default on to Claude. I won't make excuses as to why that is, but there is a saying "if its not broke don't fix it."
However, by accident I stumbled upon an idea for a day trip. The homeowner's from our housesit left a magazine all about things to do locally. I was perusing it and noticed that Orewa Estuary had been mentioned a few times along with a bike rental company.
With Zenchai being of the energetic type and loving a good cycle, I thought it would make a nice adventure.
Not to toot my own horn, but it was a fantastic family day out!
We covered about 8km in total and Zenchai, on a snazzy bike, loved every second of it. In fact, he said it was the best cycling day he's had!
Kobra sat on the back of Claude's bike, initially having chosen a small carriage instead of a seat before changing her mind. We stopped a few times to admire the scenery and take photos before heading back to the bicyle shop. It took us around an hour and was well worth it.
We rented our bikes from BikeMe, which is located at 292 Hibiscus Coast Highway next door to Radio Station 89.9. Rentals are decently priced and there's a wide range of options. There's also a huge children's playground virtually across the road and, beyond that, a long beach.
This pictures looks like you picked the perfect day for a bike ride!
Love it!
Thanks for sharing.
