WHAT makes a location perfect? Sunshine? Beach? Beautiful views? Happy people? Safety? Opportunity? Low cost of living? Community? Clean air?
I know every person has their own preference. But I also know by the big grin on my wife's face whenever she comes home from the store after purchasing groceries that the wide availability of healthy and organic goods is near the top of her list. Actually, put it at THE top.
I have seen her positively brimming with delight at the discovery of an abundant health food store or a restaurant that tickles her fancy or a massive fresh food market.
In some countries we've been to, like India, Ecuador, Brazil and some parts of Europe, it was either hard or too expensive for us to source the type of foods we like for a balanced diet.
But Vancouver is undisputedly fantastic for the range of organic, gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian and fresh food. So much so that Vancouver is now Jamie's No. 1 destination to live. Here you can also find community gardens everywhere, some more imaginative than others (see photo above).
Here there are organic stores in abundance. There's a Wholefoods not far from where we are based, but just in our local high street there are two excellent alternatives with everything you could wish for and more.
It's a great plus, because we can eat healthily all the time, but Jamie's like a child in a toy store every time she tops up our groceries.
As you probably know, Jamie is a real foodie loves to play and experiment. Admittedly, her nosh is delicious.
While I love to gobble up her treats, I know we're on a tight budget, too, and have to be prudent with our expenses.
For that reason (and having one fussy young eater) we don't eat out too often, but, invariably, whenever we do I always walk away thinking (or should I say knowing?) that Jamie's grub is far more delicious.
Wow ... We may just have to check out Vancouver as I'm absolutely on the same page as Jamie when it comes to healthy food shopping. I can just feel her joy ;).

I don't think you'll be disappointed, Victoria. I find great healthy eating places everywhere I go in the this city and I've only really scratched the surface. For a city it has a lot going for it - enough to make you overlook the ample spring rainfall.

The third attribute is cleanliness. In Singapore, when they started their urban journey, they went for the toughest European standards for solid waste management and pollution control norms. This would mean a steadfast commitment to ensure that the city promises clean air, clean water and overall cleanliness all around, with the state-of-art waste management practices. The city should decide what kind of industries and buildings should be allowed in which parts of the city, how much of green cover should be mandatory throughout the city, how many personal vehicles to be allowed to ply all these are done through a good land use policy, which ensures a good quality life for its citizens.

This is the same Bishnoi community which had launched strong protests and case against the killing of Blackbucks by Salman Khan and Mansur Ali Khan of Pataudi. In fact, their love and compassion for any living being, be it a tree or animal, has driven them to the extent of sacrificing their own lives to protect nature. Native tree of Khejari is worshipped like God. About two centuries ago, soldiers of King Abhay Singh of Jodhpur tried to cut trees in a Bishnoi village to build a new palace. The Bishnois persuaded them to stop but in vain. True of their religion, Bishnois hugged the trees to protect them. The soldiers attacked them and 363 Bishnois were killed. When the king heard of this massacre and the unique religion, he gave the religion state sanction and ensured that the wishes of Bishnois were respected in future.

Professor Surendra Shastri, head of the department of Preventive Oncology, Tata Memorial hospital said, "People have to understand that cancer is a disease associated with longevity and lifestyles. Cancer is today a disease like diabetes or hypertension people have to learn to live with it rather than despair over it. Simple lifestyle modifications involving balanced diets and physical activity along with specific prevention and screening tests would result in controlling the disease. Most importantly, avoid tobacco and take in alcohol in moderate quantities."

I think wed all love to be "peaceful and compassionate, the rise of living standards and the strength of the country. There’s nothing sad about that for sure but there is about this:Many schools around the country don’t bother teaching the history and importance of the labor movement and textbooks that do address the subject are often wrong Ask some kids you know to tell you three things about the labor movement — or even to explain what a union is — and it is likely they can’t answer itMeanwhile American teachers and their collective bargaining rights have come under assault by school reformers and policy makers some of whom are motivated by their disdain for unions and have experienced a deterioration in their working conditionsLabor Day was in this country in the 1880s — at a time when people commonly worked 12-hour days The first Labor Day rally in 1882 was in support of an eight-hour workday Kids don’t learn much about how young people used to be forced into back-breaking jobs day and night in mines textiles glass factories canneries and other places where children don’t belong Labor activists eventually ended child labor — and won better working conditions for adult workers including the eight-hour work dayBut a by the nonprofit Albert Shanker Institute titled ??American Labor in US History Textbooks: How Labor??s Story is Distorted in High School History Textbooks?? showed that textbooks are often wrong when they write about the labor movement a problem that goes back decades (The institute is endowed by the American Federation of Teachers the nation??s second largest teachers union and named after a famous labor leader but that doesn??t change what’s in the textbooks)Major textbooks among other things often represent labor organizing as inherently violence and virtually ignore the role organized labor played in winning broad social protections such as child labor laws Social Security and MedicareScholars say this a result of the unfavorable view the business community and some politicians hold towards unions an attitude that appears in textbooks that are approved by states in processes that are very politicalLabor Day once marked the end of summer and the return to school for millions of American children and adults but now many districts start the new school year well before Labor Day The calendar change was a result in many places of a desire by administrators to ensure that students had more class time before high-stakes standardized tests were given later in the yearThat’s pretty sad toois traditionally marked with parades and other celebrations attacking Obama on green-energy investments, the author Russ Choma wrote in that it was impossible to say whether any stimulus money went to create jobs in China. and Everyone inside Redskins Park believes the answers to both questions are yes If so the team has a realistic chance to repeat as NFC East champions could make a deep playoff run and develop into perennial contenders If Griffin battles injury all year and is never the same however a franchise that gave up three first-round picks and a second just to be able to draft him with St Louiss No2 overall pick will take steps backward both in the short and long termGriffin has given his teammates and coaches every reason to believe the latter will not happen"He looks 100 percent to me He can fly around He can make the throws" offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said "Theres no gimp at all obviously he wouldnt be out there if there was But he looks good to me Im excited to get him out there Week 1"Asked if Griffins better than ever expectations were realistic Peterson the super recovery poster child himself said "I feel like anything is possible Im always trying to root guys on to accomplish their goals Ive spoken about things that you have to do to come back and thats taking advantage from that first week out of surgery on If [Griffin] has put in that work hell be able to come back and be successful"Griffin did take advantage of every minute possible during his recovery and even reached out to Peterson requesting permission to ask his personal trainer for exercises the Redskins trainers could implement into his recovery program Peterson said he has one final piece of advice for the quarterback and he planned to share it directly"I plan on talking to him before the regular season starts just to tell him if anything be mentally tough be mentally focused and have confidence that your leg is stronger than it was before so go out and play your game" said Peterson who in addition to returning in record time also had a career year with 2097 rushing yards just eight yards shy of the NFL single-season record Griffin insists that while he does aim to surpass last seasons heroics which included ranking among the league leaders in accuracy passer rating and touchdown-to-interception ratio and rushing yards for a rookie quarterback and while he did aim to return in Peterson-like quickness he doesnt feel pressure to rewrite the record book both from a recovery or production standpoint“Please offer further suggestions or ideas you may have as to what you can support,) and Gerald E. Clark always did a good job combing away that spit curl. remember: Superman doesn't wear a mask.
